How The 2020 Season Could Look

One of the more popular suggestions of things I could write about during our social distancing time is how a high school tennis season could still happen and what that could look like. Now, I am not the smartest person by any means, but I feel the two options I discuss below are the most logical and obvious ways to go about a return or beginning of the 2020 spring season. Always love hearing your ideas and thoughts, so feel free to comment on the twitter posting this is on and/or on the comments at the end of this article! Lets dive in...

Social Distancing Objectives

We are now on day 2...day 4....wait maybe day 9 of quarantine? Actually it really feels like it has been day 275 since each day over the last week has now been meshed into one giant blur. In all seriousness, this is a very uncertain time not just in our state or our country, but all over the world. I hope everyone has been staying safe and continues to take best practice and healthy measures. Today, I want to try and provide a little spark into our now "boring" lives and bring some content as best I can. I tweeted last week to get suggestions on things that I could write about. I got some great suggestions and the first one I decided to start with is kind of a mixture and somewhat more informational. Today we are looking at things players can do while SOCIAL DISTANCING at home. This includes some recommendations (really all players should do these things) that can help you all get a jump start on the next stage of your life post high school. As I say at the end, feel free to...

Top 10 - College Tennis Recruits

Another school year has begun and we are off to the races! Nearly two months into the new school year, temperatures are starting to drop (some places even have had a snowfall in Northern Iowa already, that is crazy, it is OCTOBER!). Luckily there are still a couple days this week that look to be warm enough to get a couple more hits in outside, so grab a buddy a get some work in. Where does that bring us? Oh yes, a big recruiting period! Players, especially seniors, are now going on more college visits, juniors are beginning to think about post-graduation plans, because it is never to early to begin the process right? With that, I am bringing out my Top 10 recruits for the senior and junior classes both Boys and Girls. One new list will be out each of the first four days this week, so stay tuned and enjoy!

2020 Recruiting Class Summer Update

pc: the gazette The summer grind is well underway with multiple tournaments having taken place thus far. Lots more opportunities this summer to get out and compete, improve your game and ranking all at the same time. Doing my best to do a summer update with the soon-to-be seniors and where players are at with post graduation plans. Players mentioned in this article were individuals that were able to get back to me about where they are currently at! There are many other rising seniors that are going to be in the recruiting mix.

2019 Blog Awards

Another great high school tennis season is in the books for the State of Iowa. New State Champions were crowned, players got another year of experience and for the first time it seemed like we had an indoor season! (thanks weather). As we come to a close, here at the blog I wanted to get awards out this year including 1st/2nd team selections, freshman of the year, senior of the year and coach of the year. All of the 1A/2A Boys/Girls will be listed below and you can also see the tweets with the pictures of selections posted. This is by no means state official, but blog official is the next best right?!

1A Girls Team State

Tomorrow is the last day of the 2019 high school tennis season, well I guess we do have Co-Ed state next week! Regardless, four teams in Columbus, Xavier, Shenandoah and Wahlert have a chance at a team state title tomorrow. Columbus is the defending state champions and enter the final four as the #1 seed. They are undefeated this year and have wins over both Wahlert and Xavier.
