What 2 Watch 4
April 23 are we finally have some sun! Great weather is on dock for another packed week of Iowa tennis. I am looking to try two new features this week so be sure to keep your eyes open for those. These features include an article feature on the highly touted matchup with 2A Boys of IC West and Linn-Mar Tuesday the 24th, and the first ever individual singles rankings (beginning with 2A boys to see how it shakes out! If anyone is interested in volunteering with the coverage of Iowa HS Tennis, send me a message or email! Would love to expand singles rankings to all classes). With that being said, here is what you should watch for with some of the top 10 power ranked teams this week!*Rankings indicated below are based on the blogs power rankings*
2A Boys
#5 Pleasant Valley vs #6 Bettendorf: MAC title up for grabs between these two conference power houses. PV has not lost a match all season and Bettendorf has not lost a meet since their early season drubbing from Linn-Mar.
Prediction: Bettendorf def Pleasant Valley 5-4
#1 IC West vs #4 CR Wash, #10 Cedar Falls: Huge week for IC West. West has not played too many meets with the poor weather this spring but has shut out everyone in their path. Not only do they play Wash and CF, they start the week with #2 Linn-Mar (a separate match analysis will be published tomorrow!) Wash will be a good test at the end of the week and Cedar Falls will provide a nice match.
Prediction: IC West def CR Wash 6-3
IC West def Cedar Falls 9-0

#7 Waukee vs #8 Dowling Catholic: Dowling suffered their first loss against Valley last week but will have another big time test against Waukee this week. Waukee suffered two losses to start the season against top teams of IC West and Valley. David Lu has been playing some great ball for Dowling and has only lost 1 game thus far.
Prediction: Waukee def. Dowling 6-5
#9 Ames vs Ankeny Centennial: Ames rebounded with a nice 8-3 win against Cedar Falls after losing to Waukee and Valley prior. Ankeny Cent has been a nice surprise this year. While their toughest match has been against Valley, a nice result of 4-7, they have a nice opportunity against the Little Cyclones.
Prediction: Waukee def. Dowling 6-5
#9 Ames vs Ankeny Centennial: Ames rebounded with a nice 8-3 win against Cedar Falls after losing to Waukee and Valley prior. Ankeny Cent has been a nice surprise this year. 2A Girls
#2 IC West vs #7 Valley: This meet is probably happening as I am writing this. Both teams have been impressive so far this year and it is always great to have an East vs West matchup.
Prediction: West def Valley 7-4 or 6-3
#3 Ames vs #5 Dowling: Top 5 matchup alert! Ames has looked great this year and is looking to continue their stellar play against Dowling. Dowling has only taken one loss which was early to Urbandale and will be looking to play spoiler.
Prediction: Ames def Dowling 8-3
#9 IC City vs #10 CR Wash: Both teams have played pretty well this year even though some of the firepower has left each program. This will be a close match between two fairy even teams.
Prediction: IC City def Wash 5-4
1A Boys
#3 Ames vs #5 Dowling: Top 5 matchup alert! Ames has looked great this year and is looking to continue their stellar play against Dowling. Dowling has only taken one loss which was early to Urbandale and will be looking to play spoiler.

#9 IC City vs #10 CR Wash: Both teams have played pretty well this year even though some of the firepower has left each program. This will be a close match between two fairy even teams.

1A Boys
#1 Wahlert vs (2A) #10 Cedar Falls: Wahlert has the luxury of playing in the MVC with the "big boys." This may provide great experience for the post season. Expect this one to be close.
Prediction: Wahlert def Cedar Falls 5-4
#6 Boone vs #10 Ballard: I will be honest, I do not know too much about each of these teams. Going out on a whim here with this prediction.
Prediction: Boone def Ballard 6-3
1A Girls
Waverly-Shell Rock NE IA Conference Tournament: The Go-Hawks have been dominating so far this year, although they have not played one of the top teams so far. Look for the Go-Hawks to be the favorites for the conference title this weekend.
#3 Shenandoah vs #4 Glenwood: Big matchup here. Both teams are undefeated thus far and are looking to get a leg up for the conference title. This. Will. Be. Close.
Prediction: Glenwood def. Shenandoah 5-4
#6 CR Xavier vs (2A) #10 IC City: Xavier has been dang impressive so far this year boasting a 7-1 record. With their only loss being to power house IC West, I will continue to go with the hot hand.
Prediction: CR Xavier def IC City 6-3
#8 Fort Madison vs #9 Burlington ND: Fort Madison suffered a 2-7 loss to Fairfield last week, but other than that have remained perfect. Again, another pair of teams I do not know too much about, and will go on a whim with my prediction.
Prediction: Burlington ND def Fort Madison 6-3
