Players of the Week
1A Girls: Mira Keeran (Cedar Falls)
Keeran is currently undefeated in singles and doubles and has not dropped a set yet this season. Keeran most recently posted wins against Freshman phenom Abbie Peterson of Ankeny Centennial and former doubles state champion Allison Szalay of Dowling in the Valley invite this past week. In addition to a first place finish at number one singles at the Valley invite, Keeran helped Cedar Falls claim the team title as well.
Teams of the Week
2A Girls: Bettendorf
The Bulldogs grabbed two wins last week to improve their record to 6-2 on the year. The only blemishes on the schedule for the Bulldogs are a pair of 3-6 losses to top 10 ranked foes in Clinton and Pleasant Valley. After blanking Davenport West 9-0, Bettendorf won a tight 5-4 meet against 1A #5 Davenport Assumption.
2A Boys: Ankeny Centennial
After a tough state to the 2021 campaign, the Jaguars have now won 6 of their last 7 including a pair of top 10 wins last week. Centennial pulled out two 5-4 wins over #8 Dowling and #10 Mason City in their final meets of the year heading into districts this week with nice momentum.
1A Girls: Davis County
The Mustangs closed out their regular season with a trio of wins last week. With wins over Chariton, Burlington Notre Dame and Albia, Davis County moved to 8-1 on the year with their only loss to #3 Fairfield earlier in the season.
1A Boys: Decorah
The Vikings scored a thrilling 5-4 win over #8 Columbus Catholic and added another victory over a Minnesota foe to move their impressive record to 8-1 on the year. With the only loss coming to 2A Mason City, Decorah looks to close out the regular season today before heading off to districts on Wednesday.
